Stucchi's
Super Premium Ice Cream & Gourmet Frozen Yogurt
Stucchi's first store started in the heart of Ann Arbor and that is where it remains as a successful business for its 20th Anniversary. The founders were determined to start a business and, coming from a family of ice cream aficionados, they were determined to get involved in the perfect product at the perfect location. Stucchi’s was the product and Ann Arbor was that location. Stucchi’s created a frozen yogurt product that was unexpectedly delicious, satisfying enough for any sweet tooth, and relatively new to the market. Something with definite appeal for the growing number of health-conscious people who wanted to avoid the nutritional drawbacks of ice cream. Stucchi’s also created an ice cream product that would create the ultimate satisfaction. In a saturated market, the most critical aspect for Stucchi’s success would be the location and target market selection. Ann Arbor provided a market that was open to new, local businesses, and would establish a loyal relationship as long as quality and value were delivered. By August of 1986, Stucchi’s set up the first store on The University of Michigan's central campus area. It wasn't long before people were flocking to the counter and, within a year, our menu had expanded to include soups, deli-style breads, popcorn and more. By 1987, the demand was so great that we opened a second store in Ann Arbor.
Our employee roster continued to grow . . . and grow and we were lucky to have a strong local employee base to help ensure that the customer service was as high in quality as the products that we serve. Our stores were always bustling with customers whose passion for the product enforced Stucchi’s to continue to strive for quality and value. The numerous events and activities such as the Ann Arbor Summer Festival and Ann Arbor Art Fair have allowed Stucchi’s to contribute back to the community and provide our products to the mass markets. Other local businesses have used Stucchi’s for Ice Cream Socials and events to help promote our products. Groups of graduate business students asked us to be the subject of their case studies on successful businesses. We received calls from newspapers and magazines. And now we are receiving a steady flow of inquiries from potential franchisees, and requests from retail businesses to market our ice cream and yogurt products.
When people ask us how we account for Stucchi's success, we can answer without hesitation. Throughout the entire process, we've held on firmly to the guiding principles and values we started out with: good products, hard work, attention to detail, a positive attitude, a genuine concern for customer satisfaction, and an unshakable belief that you should always enjoy what you're doing. We also had strong support and encouragement from the city of Ann Arbor, which provided an entrepreneurial mindset regardless of the type and size of the business.
Today, STUCCHI’S® offers a unique experience in Super Premium Ice Cream and Gourmet Frozen Yogurt desserts. STUCCHI’S® produces all of its ice cream and frozen dessert products using state of the art equipment and high quality ingredients at its production facility near Ann Arbor, MI. Our top of the line flavors are also available in Smushins, Malts, Shakes, Smoothies, and Cakes. The pleasure of STUCCHI’S® is further enhanced by being able to enjoy a truly high quality frozen dessert in a contemporary atmosphere reminiscent of a neighborhood ice cream parlor. We have created a very loyal following in the Ann Arbor area that has also spread with the customer base nationally and internationally for success.
