UtilitiesNatural Gas Rates
Special rates are offered for businesses needing large volumes of natural gas, or are able to accommodate alternate fuel displacement. There are also special school rates and transportation rates. These rates do not include appropriate taxes. Electrical Rates General Commercial/Industrial Service Rate (as of 02/01) This energy rate is available to customers who use electricity moderately and generally operate their businesses less than 16 hours a day. (Major users typically select service under the Primary Supply Rate.) Approved surcharges and appropriate taxes are applied to all kilowatt hours. Monthly Charges Service charge: $9.24 Energy charge: $0.0995 per kWh Primary Supply Service Rate (as of 02/01) This rate generally applies to facilities with high energy demands. Kilowatt hour cost varies depending on hours of operation. Detroit Edison will prepare a customized rate analysis upon receipt of electric load requirements. Monthly Charges Service charge: $275.00 Energy charge: $0.045 - $0.09 per kWh Consumers Energy Electric Commercial/Industrial Rates (as of 02/01) General Secondary Service Rate "B" & Secondary Resale Service Rate "R-1." Please note, Power Supply Cost Recovery Adjustments and State Sales Tax are not reflected in these rates. Monthly Charges Service charge: $7.00 Energy charge: $0.0923 per kWh Village of Chelsea Electric Utility System Commercial Rate (as of 02/01) 120/240, 120/208-3 phase or 240 Volt-3 phase when warranted by load size. Available to any customer for all electric requirements. Not available for standby service or resale. A 6% sales tax will apply. Monthly charges range from $25 - $38 depending on address. 911 and Touch Tone dialing are incorporated in monthly charge. Voice Mail, Caller ID, and Call Forwarding are extra charges per month. Recycling With a participation rate of 93%, Ann Arbor is among the top five recycling cities in the U.S. Recycling in Ann Arbor began with a drop-off station in 1970. As of 1996, there were 31 material categories collected for recovery – more than any other city in the U.S. There was a 52% total waste reduction level making Ann Arbor to one of the top ten in the nation. Thirty percent of the residential waste is diverted through recycling and 23% through composting. Forty percent of homes in Ann Arbor do some sort of home composting. With a daily “production” of only 5.71 lbs of residential waste per household, Ann Arbor is ranked third in the U.S. for least waste production per household.
