A host of entrepreneurial services and resources are available throughout the area to help you define the opportunity, develop your business plan and find resources to help you grow. Working with our partners provides entrepreneurs with an ideal opportunity to identify resources and other fellow entrepreneurs developing businesses in Livingston County.

Ann Arbor SPARK offers entrepreneurial trainings at both our SPARK Central and SPARK East incubators through educational events.

The Virtual Business Advisor (VBA), an economic development tool, was created through a partnership among Ann Arbor SPARK, the A2Y Chamber, Washtenaw County’s Community and Economic Development Department, and QLBS. The VBA is an economic development tool that aims to assist entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses as they work towards their next stage of business growth. Through a series of assessments, the VBA identifies personal and company strengths and weaknesses, benchmarks against other companies in the region, and connects users to suggestions and available economic development resources to address their unique business needs.

SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER (MI-SBDC™) Livingston County provides a full range of services for a variety of small businesses that are emerging and growing throughout Michigan – including new venture companies, existing small businesses, expanding businesses, new technology companies, and innovators. Services include business counseling, training, research and more. The Livingston County MI-SBDC specializes in loan packaging, cash flow projections, and marketing for retail and service businesses.

 LEGUP! is a collaborative effort between Cleary University, SCORE, the SBTDC, and the Howell, Brighton, and Hartland Chambers of Commerce, and is designed to help provide a "leg up" toward future success, Livingston Entrepreneurs Group United for Prosperity (LEGUP!) brings together new and established entrepreneurs for educational, networking and resource opportunities.

provides free and confidential business advice and counseling tailored to meet the needs of small businesses. SCORE provides mentors, counseling, tools and workshops for start-ups and existing entrepreneurs.

With Frontal Lobe, you will be working next to entrepreneurs, techies, writers, designers, software engineers, small business owners and startups in a refreshing work environment to grow your business and ideas. The space will provide all the amenities of an office, servicing the needs of many types of business owners.  In creating this unique space we want to give the coffee shop feel without all the coffee shop distractions.

The Livingston County Small Business Loan Program  was created through a partnership between Livingston County, First National Bank, Advantage Livingston, the Livingston Economic Development Council, Ceed Lending, and the US Small Business Administration. The $100,000 fund awards up to $50,000 to business in Livingston County. The competitive loans are designed to help companies fill a key need that will help them further success

The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Cleary University serves a community of students, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, managers, corporations, and small business owners. Our staff and partners are ready to help you nurture your idea, fuel your growth, turn around your company, innovate your IP, and develop your employees.

Advantage Livingston, Livingston Economic Development Council, CEED Lending and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Other Funding Sources

As an advocate for business, the chambers work collectively with entrepreneurs toward pivotal solutions and resources, providing access to networking, business exposure, site selection assistance, business counseling and more.  

 A number of libraries in the county offer centers that provide a core collection of business related materials and support, which include marketing, demographic and competitive intelligence, information specialists, and access to consultants such as SCORE counselors.  The centers also offer Internet access, Office 2010, printing, faxing, copying, scanning, skyping, and a designated meeting and work space.
