Shifting Gears is a 5 month intensive program with 3 phases that include a multi-functional small business knowledge base, practical project applications base, and a launching point base.
Do you have large company corporate experiences and would like to make a change to a new environment? Would you like to make an investment in yourself and gain skills and experiences that will prepare you to adapt effectively to dynamic, innovative firms? Would you like to have a mentor and experience working with early stage entrepreneurs where you can make valuable, meaningful connections?
If you answered yes to these questions, then you should come to an information session to learn more about the Shifting Gears Program and to see if it is right for you.
Shifting Gears is a 5 month intensive program with 3 phases that include a multi-functional small business knowledge base, practical project applications base, and a launching point base. The growth of small businesses provides jobs and contributes to building economic strength in our communities. At the same time, talented professionals are critical to support small business development and growth.
The purpose of “Shifting Gears” is to increase the success of individuals who want to leverage their career experiences and education to help small businesses grow. This program seeks highly skilled and talented professionals who want to increase their effectiveness and capabilities to help grow small business. Effective adaptation of knowledge and experience from established professionals depend on transforming their careers to adapt effectively to dynamic, innovative firms.
The Shifting Gears program kicks off in September. There will be additional meetings with mentors, an unpaid practicum/internship with a pre-funded start-up and additional educational and networking opportunities. The cost for this program is $2500 (scholarships are available) and an assessment and interview is required.
Shifting Gears is an innovative program developed by Sensei Change Associates, LLC and sponsored by Ann Arbor SPARK, in partnership with Washtenaw County ETCS/Michigan Works, the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Washtenaw Community College, the Michigan Venture Capital Association.
