Goal Setting! Making 2012 Your Best Year Yet
LA2M, Lunch Ann Arbor Marketing
How to be productive, positive and passionate at home, at work and at life. Every year, Terry Bean and Charlie Wollborg (both recent presenters at LA2M) host a series of goal setting seminars. We're happy to bring them back to Conor O'Neills and share this presentation with LA2M members. Admission to this event is $20. Tickets will be sold at the door. Price includes Lunch. Is this going to be your year? Do you have a big dream, goal or resolution that you’re going to achieve in 2012? Good luck. You’ll most likely fail. While most people set New Year’s Resolutions, a recent study showed only 12% achieve them. That’s less than 1 in 8. Luckily for us, there are a few tricks that can turn the odds back in our favor. Join us for GOAL! Making 2012 Your Best Year Yet – a goal setting workshop on Wednesday, January 4th. Learn how to be productive, positive and passionate every day. Get your business and life on track for incredible successes.

Internships - The How's and Why's
LA2M, Lunch Ann Arbor Marketing
Today, many companies are joining the trend in using interns as a way to achieve progress within the company. Student internships provide opportunities for students to gain experience in their field, determine if they have an interest in a particular career, create a network of contacts, or gain school credit. Do you own, or are part of a company, looking to jump into this new trend and hire interns? Paul Jacques will answer the questions most companies have about internships. Some topics he’ll discuss include: Decisions on paid, unpaid, stipend, or for-credit internships • Hours in a typical internship • Best seasons for internships, and when students are most looking • Graduate and International students in internships • Transition from internship to full-time employment • Top trends companies are using Paul will also speak on how companies can connect with MSU and other universities in Michigan to gather the best pool of intern candidates.

Blogging & Curation, Business Lessons Learned using Traditional and New Social Media Tools
LA2M, Lunch Ann Arbor Marketing
A choice in social media for business today is blogging or curation, or some of both, or developing a hybrid. How do you make smart choices among traditional and the newest social media tools? In today’s discussion, Deb Nystrom, a local consultant and owner of the Social Media Learning Lab; and JT Pedersen, a product strategist and blogger with Tech.li; will illustrate & banter with LA2M on the practical applications of blogging and curating, and how these approaches help your business grow. JT and Deb will demystify the blog and/or curate process and provide practical examples as well as what they have each achieved in just the past two years. You'll leave this session with a better sense of how social media "traditional" blogging tools (Wordpress, Twitter, LinkedIn) as well as newer social media curation tools (ScoopIt, Pinterest, paper.li) can help your business grow. Come get first-hand exposure to how these tools are applied. See how two local professionals have used them. Then, ask yourself: What would be best for me to grow my business and help me move from an unknown to becoming a true partner to my customers?

But I’m here to correct all that with my BRAND NEW training call “How to Double Your Income Making 2012 Your Best Year Ever – avoiding costly marketing mistakes for good!” on Thursday, January 19 at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Whither Installation
U-M Taubman College of Architecture
This symposium, organized by the Architecture Program of the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan is intended both as a survey and interrogation of the variety of scopes (historical, theoretical, discursive, and institutional) by which "installation" as a genre of work has been formulated over the last decade, and brings together a group of makers, teachers and thinkers whose work speaks of the relation of architectural production to the idea of the installation today. The hypothesis being tested is that installations have emerged, or have perhaps re-emerged, as the conceptual framework by which the discipline of architecture imagines itself. In the midst of the increasing institutionalization of the installation as a form of practice, pedagogy, and polemic, the question is, for a format that privileges means, what are the ends?
