K-12 Education
The K-12 schools in Washtenaw County are outstanding. In a recent survey, nearly 90% of the respondents in a survey of Washtenaw County high school graduates reported they have gone on to some kind of postsecondary education, clearly making this a unique community.²
The county features a rich mix of ten public school districts, and eight public school academies. They offer high-quality programs in state-of-the-art facilities supported by communities that value world-class education.
Students in Ann Arbor Public Schools earned the following national honors last year:
- 39 National Merit Scholar finalists
- 18 National Merit Scholar Awards

Modern Facilities Within the last five years, all ten public school districts have either modernized, opened or are building new high schools.
Highly-Trained Teachers Our teachers are constantly learning too. Teaching staffs log hundreds of hours each year outside the classroom mastering new and improved ways to help students succeed.
A Fiber Network This 120-mile, high-tech connection provides high-speed internet access, video-streaming and distance-learning to all classrooms in the region.
Rigorous Curriculum Advanced mathematics, science and English courses; advanced computer programming, advanced web design, electronics, CAD/CAM and coursework leading to technical certification are just some of the courses taken by our students.
A Shared Vision for Student Success In a unique effort lead by the innovative intermediate school district, the public schools have joined forces, working toward a world-class, personalized education for each of the more than 50,000 students in our region.
